LOUIS — The executive board of the Missouri Police Chiefs Association is offering support for red light cameras. Forty chiefs who are members of the board signed a resolution backing the use of the cameras. The announcement on Wednesday came about a week after the St. Louis Police Officers Association announced it opposes the use of red light cameras, saying they don’t constitute good law enforcement and are simply a way to make money. But the resolution by the police chiefs association says the cameras are a useful tool in an overall traffic safety program.. About 30 Missouri communities use cameras to enforce traffic signals.
